What is Tusto?#
Tusto is a cross-platform mobile app for simple expense tracking and budgeting.
Origin Story#
I’ve been tracking my expenses for almost ten years, ever since I started freelancing. Early on, I realized that one skill most of us are missing is simply understanding where our money goes. Without that knowledge, it’s hard to make informed decisions about our finances.
Back then, I used a Portuguese app called Boonzi. It’s full-featured and powerful, tracking expenses, managing accounts, and giving a complete financial overview. It’s great for people who want deep insights, but for most beginners, it can feel overwhelming. Many just want to see where their money is going and start forming the habit of tracking spending.
That’s why I’m creating Tusto. It’s a simple, approachable app for daily expense tracking and basic budgeting. Users can log expenses, review past months, and start understanding their habits. Tusto is a stepping stone, a first step toward financial awareness that can grow into more advanced tools later.
Also, building Tusto will let me practice Flutter and SQLite while creating something real that I, and others, can use every day. The focus is on starting simple, building good habits, and gaining clarity over your money.
